Neos’ second collaboration with Film Clinic, Cotton Queen is set in a cotton-farming village in Sudan and follows 15-year-old Nafisa as she navigates the conflicting forces of love and duty. Nafisa harbors a crush on Babiker, but her parents have arranged her marriage to Nadir, a businessman living abroad. Adding to her struggles, her grandmother Al-Sit, the village matriarch, has her own ambitions for Nafisa’s future. As Nafisa confronts the weight of tradition, family expectations, and her own desires, she must ultimately decide whether she can forge her own path.
